Humans may think they're at the top of the food chain, but cats know better. Every now and then, humans need a little help, and Max the Cat meets the challenge when his human Kari gets in deep doo-doo after losing her job. His solution? Kari needs a man - and fast!

KariAnn Ingles loves her big black kitty Max. Her four-legged little man seems to understand her so well, she suspects he can actually read her mind. Unfortunately, Max the Cat is very protective and has a way of running off every date she’s ever brought home. As a result, Max is the only man in her life. His latest escapade with her former boss Josh Braswell has landed her on the job-hunting trail. In the current economy, that could quickly spell doom for her and her cantankerous cat.

Max the Cat loves his human Kari, and she loves him. But kitty-love can only go so far, and Max knows Kari has certain needs a cat can’t fulfill. The problem is, Kari has terrible taste in potential mates, and Max has been obliged to deter every man she’s brought home so far. The last one, her boss, was the worst. And now Kari is spending all day – every day – at home, not bothering to dress up and go to work. This inconvenient behavioral change is cramping his feline lifestyle in a big way, so it’s time to take matters into his own paws. Kari needs a mate, and Max is on a big-kitty mission to find her the purrr-fect man – if there is such a creature!

Cole Jordensen is just getting settled into his new apartment after a long drawn-out breakup with his latest girlfriend Beth. This last fizzled relationship has convinced him to swear off women for a while. When a stray black cat shows up at his door and won’t leave him alone, he figures something’s wrong, and the animal needs help. Not a cat person, Cole nevertheless follows the cat to the apartment of a charmingly unkempt young woman named Kari Ingles. Suddenly Cole’s past troubles with women are eclipsed by Miss Ingles and her darned cat!
